ANIMALS NAMES SONG

MAN GAVE NAMES TO ALL THE ANIMALS
By Bob Dylan

Hello, Folks: Today I´d like to share with you this song which I've just rediscovered this week looking for animals songs in You Tube, and I'v just enjoyed it with my pupils from 5th and 6th levels this morning. I was dealing with the topic of wild animals and wanting to find a song diferent from the typical "The animals went in two by two". I think the song couldn´t be more motivating and joyful for the pupils as they can learn by heart the chorus in a minute and then if you want work slowly the complete lyrics.

Here I leave you the link and lyrics. Enjoy it. Kisses to your pets.

MAN GAVE NAMES TO ALL THE ANIMALS (Bob Dylan)

Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, in the beginning.
Man gave names to all the animals
In the beginning, long time ago. (Chorus)

He saw an animal that liked to growl,
Big furry paws and he liked to howl,
Great big furry back and furry hair.
"Ah, think I'll call it a bear."

Man gave names...

He saw an animal up on a hill
Chewing up so much grass until she was filled.
He saw milk comin' out but he didn't know how.
"Ah, think I'll call it a cow."

Man gave names...

He saw an animal that liked to snort,
Horns on his head and they weren't too short.
It looked like there wasn't nothin' that he couldn't pull.
"Ah, think I'll call it a bull."

Man gave names...

He saw an animal leavin' a muddy trail,
Real dirty face and a curly tail.
He wasn't too small and he wasn't too big.
"Ah, think I'll call it a pig."

Man gave names...

Next animal that he did meet
Had wool on his back and hooves on his feet,
Eating grass on a mountainside so steep.
"Ah, think I'll call it a sheep."

Man gave names...

He saw an animal as smooth as glass
Slithering his way through the grass.
Saw him disappear by a tree near a lake . . .

SONGS FROM OLD IRELAND

As a present of wellcome I left you this present: A video of the mithic Irish group "The Dubliners", rediscovered by me in their recent play at Gran Teatro in Córdoba... I did enjoy their music in an ecstasy, as if I were in heaven, despite that in the Irish Heaven there's no beer (title of a popular song they sing: "In heaven there's no beer / that's why we drink it here"). If I have to choose a pair of my favourite songs, I'd say these: "A Spanish Lady" and "The Lord of the Dance"

After the concert, I discovered the lot of videos loged in You Tube from "The Dubliners" and I used them to motivate my pupils from 5th and 6th levels and they could sang a pair of most easy lyrics songs as "Molly Malone" or "The Wild Rover" (they ask me sometimes to replay them on You Tube again).

So I want to share my enthusiasm on Irish folk with you, because is a very close and easy resource you can use in your classes. I hang them on the left, only four, but there are many more at YT (I recommend "Wiskey In The Jar" and "I Wish I had Someone To Love Me" by the octogenarian Barney Mackenan, who could hardly raise to the scenary but whose fingers were literally invisible playing the banjo... Cheers!
